Online Visa Applications for Bulgaria, Poland & Romania

The Department of Immigration & Citizenship of Australia (DIAC) announced a roll-out of improved electronic processing for Bulgarian, Polish and Romanian Citizens.

The addition of Bulgaria, Poland, and Romania to Australia's list of countries for Electronic Visa Applications brings Australia closer to a full reciprocal visa arrangement with the European Union.

According to DIAC Secretary Andrew Metcalfe, most applicants from these three countries can complete applications for tourist visas online, significantly improving processing times.

"Australia's electronic tourist visa service allows people from eligible countries to use the Internet to apply for a visa at anytime from anywhere in the world," Mr Metcalfe said.

"A further step in October this year will introduce another new online service to continue streamlining the processes for EU tourists and business visitors to come to Australia." said Mr Metcalfe.

"Simplifying entry for more than a million people from the EU visiting Australia each year enhances cultural links, encourages tourism growth and facilitates business relationships with Australia’s largest trade partner."

More than a million people from the EU visit Australia every year. It is expected that the changes in October will bring closer co-operation between Australia and the EU.
