New Skilled Migration requirements for NSWFriday, 24 April 2009 The New South Wales (NSW) state government has made a series of changes that affect skilled migrants wanting to live and work in NSW. The state has revised its English requirements for the 176/886 visa. NSW state now requires a minimum IELTS test score (7.0 or 8.0) for all four components of the test. Previously, the NSW state government has accepted applications where one of the four components fell short of the required test score. NSW will no longer be doing this, and all applicants must meet the required minimum test score on each four components of the IELTS test. To be eligible for state NSW state sponsorship, applicants must meet the English requirements for the state and also for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). NSW have also changed their skills in demand list which no longer sponsors General Medical Practitioners under the skilled sponsored programme. The state however still does sponsor General Medical Practitioners under the skilled regional sponsored programme. Accountants are also no longer sponsored for the onshore skilled regional sponsored visa in NSW.
