South Australia Immigration Changes for MarchFriday, 20 March 2009 The South Australian State Government has announced a number of changes to state immigration programs that will come into effect on March 31, 2009. The South Australian State has announced that they will be temporarily suspending the Concessional English provision from 5pm Adelaide local time on 31 March 2009. The Concessional English provision has assisted in large number of work visa grants from the South Australian state to compensate for skills shortages, and has added significantly to the number of skilled visa applications which has led the South Australian State to conduct an internal review of the programme. The State as also announced that there will be a change in the Sponsorship/Occupations lists from 5pm Adelaide local time on 31 March 2009. As they cannot advise which occupations have been added or removed from the list, the State has advised to submit applications once they are decision ready in order to avoid any disappointment. Processing times for Permanent sponsorships will be completed within 4 weeks, and provisional sponsorships will be completed within 6-8 weeks. These processing times have taken into account the influx of applications due to the Concessional English provision.
