AUSTRALIAN IMMIGRATION NEWS
Many Australian Visa Application Forms to change from 1 July 2009Thursday, 18 June 2009 The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) have announced a number of changes to application forms and other forms to take effect from 1 July 2009. Changes in the forms reflect legislation changes to recognise same-sex relationships, increase client awareness of the implications of providing fraudulent documents, and changes to the health declaration questions. 118 form changes are listed on the DIAC website as "essential changes", meaning that visa applicants lodging these forms prior to July 1 may lodge the current version, where as any forms lodged after this date must use the new version. 9 other form changes are listed as "non-essential", indicating that the changes to the text or construction of these forms do not make the old version invalid. Currently the new forms are not publically available, though DIAC are considering a request from the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) to release the forms prior to July 1.
