Pakistan identified as vital source of recruitment for Canada

In talks with Jason Kenney, the Canadian Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has called for further exploration of recruitment possibilities for Pakistanis in Canada's increasingly scarce labour force in some provinces.

The government of Canada recently doubled its economic support to Pakistan to $60 million dollars.

Jason Kenney has identified Pakistan as a critical source of foreign workers for Canada, and addressed the significant delays in processing of applications for potential Pakistani migrants to Canada, promising that the government will henceforth try to reduce the processing time for these cases.

The visit further reinforced the Canadian corporate sector's growing desire to treat Pakistan as a possible source for investments and joint ventures. Kenney further stated that he would look to increase the push for recruitment in Pakistan.
