The Haiti Special Measures Program was a major success as over 95% of eligible applications were reviewed before April 1, 2010. These figures also translate to over 2300 applications processed with the focus of reuniting Haitian families within Canada.

According to Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney, the Haiti Special Measures Program is "the fastest and largest immigration effort of its kind following a natural disaster". In the weeks following the disaster, the initial effort called Operation Stork, helped pave the way for the immigration of 203 children who were adopted by Canadian families. The adoption application process generally takes around 2 years, but under Operation Stork the process was shortened down to a few weeks time.

Special measures have also led the way for the extension of over 3700 individuals living within Canada under Temporary Work Visas and Student visas. Furthermore, the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) has also been focused on the prioritization of Haitian asylum claims, resulting in the processing of over 1100 applications by May 30, 2010.
