Work permit fee change

Friday, 26 June 2009

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) today announced that a £20 fee will be introduced from 29th June 2009 for the acceptance of technical changes of employment notifications for work permit holders. The new charge was introduced as part of the UKBA’s ongoing cost recovery measures.

From 29th June, work permit holders making a technical change in their employment (from what was initially approved by the UKBA) will be required to complete a 'notification of technical change of employment form'. This can also include personal changes, such as change of name. Employers wanting to inform the UKBA of any changes to personal details for their sponsored employees, change of business address or transfer of a sponsored employee to a new work location (with the same employer) can also make use of this form.

If significant changes are made to the role, location or terms and conditions of employment, then a new application must be made under the Tier 2 (Sponsored Worker) category of the new points-based system.
